Baby, It’s Cold Outside…

Brrr.  It rained all night and by the time I got up this morning it had turned to snow. It snowed ALL morning and afternoon. It stuck a little but I knew it wouldn’t last – it rarely does.  By dinnertime all the snow had melted. Snow in March is not all that shocking; I mean, it is still winter afterall. BUT snow in March in the south on the coast is a little less expected. Especially since it was almost 80 degrees last week. The good thing about getting this rain and snow is that it washed away all the pollen that accumulated all week. Everything had been covered with that fine, yellow dust. So, even though we got a Sunday Surprise, Spring is still on my mind and it was a blessing in disguise. I’ve got spring fever so I incorporated some spring elements into a few challenge cards I did this week.

I guess I’ll start off with this one.

I combined two challenges for this card:

  1. This week’s Wednesday Challenge at Simon Says Stamp focused on cards or projects for a special lady or girl with a nod to Penny Black products.
  2. I followed the layout from this week’s sketch challenge #635 on Splitcoaststampers.

Products used: (cardstock) MFT Smooth White, Black Licorice, SU! Kiwi Kiss, Neehah Solar White, My Mind’s Eye 6″x6″, Penny Black Stamps – April Showers, MFT Black Licorice Hybrid ink, Copic Markers, Cuttlebug Embossing Folder, foam tape

Next up are some fun, colorful pups…

MMTPT450

I combined three challenges for this card:

  1. I participated in this week’s Teapot Tuesday Challenge MMTPT450 over at Splitcoaststampers and this card will be sent to a special 13-year old girl who has been battling cancer most of her childhood. She loves dogs and they were to be the focus of our teapot cards this week.
  2. I used the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches #278. I stuck pretty much to the exact layout.

                3. The colors from MFT’s Color Challenge #65 were perfect colors for a
girl’s card and make for some fun colored puppies!

Products used: (cardstock) MFT Lavender Fields, Smooth White, Razzle Berry, Cornflower, Watercolor Paper, MFT 6″x6″, MFT stamps Lucky Dog, (ink) MFT Lavender Fields, Razzle Berry, Cornflower, SU! Bordering Blue, Versamark, Embossing Powder, foam tape, MFT die-namics

Next, is a card for this week’s Color Throwdown CTD433 : Cornflower Blue, Green, and White.

CTD433

Products used: (cardstock) MFT  Smooth White, Cornflower, MFT 6″x6″,  MFT stamps Tropical Flowers, (ink) MFT Field Day, Limelight, Versamark, Embossing Powder, foam tape, MFT die-namics, Nuvo Crystal Drops

Monday’s Challenge at Simon Says Stamp challenges us to make our own background with a focus on Dyan Reaveley’s Dylusions Products. I came up with this card by stamping and heat embossing the large butterfly stamp onto watercolor paper, then spritzing various colors of Dylusions ink sprays.  The sentiment is also a Dylusions product.

SSS Monday Challenge 3-6-17

Products used: (cardstock) MFT  Smooth White, Black Licorice, Watercolor paper, (stamps) SU! Swallowtail, Dylusions, Dylusions ink spray (Lemon Zest, Squeezed Orange, Pure Sunshine), Versamark, Embossing Powder, sequins

And, lastly is this card that I made for MFT’s Sketch Challenge MFTWSC323.

MFTWSC323

I combined the sketch challenge with this week’s Ways to Use it Challenge at Splitcoaststampers. We were to include glasses in our design.

Products used: (cardstock) MFT  Insulation Pink, Black Licorice, Peach Bellini, silver mirror CS, Crop-a-dile Corner Chomper, MFT Die-namics

I’m happy I managed to get a few cards done this weekend and look forward to new challenges this week. Thanks for stopping by!

This Week’s Challenge Cards

I’m back with a few more challenge cards for the week. First up is this adorable valentine card I made for a friend.

Andrea Valentine 2017

I used MFT’s Adorable Elephants (emphasis on adorable) stamps and coordinating dienamics. The stenciled background was made by diecutting a background piece but then using it as a stencil. In this case I used MFT’s Hugs & Kisses Cover-up Dienamic to create a background of little x’s and o’s.  I colored the elephant cuties with Copic markers and popped some up with foam tape on little oval shadows. I used this week’s MFT sketch (MFTWSC317) as inspiration for the layout.

I combined this week’s Color Throwdown with two challenges from SCS to create this cute card:

Happy Hellp Australian Critters

I masked some of the little critters from Avery Elle’s Band Camp set to create this parade of animals. Normally, I would have colored them more vibrantly but I was trying to stick to the pastel colors of the color challenge. I colored the image with Copic markers and popped up the panel using craft foam. Used a Swiss Dot stencil to create a soft background. Here are the challenges I incorporated into this card:

  1. Teapot Tuesday called uplifting music, music notes, etc. These little critters sure look like they’re putting out some sweet sounds.
  2. SCS Ways to Use It challenge this week called for a nod to Australian friends down under.  Surely you;d find kangaroos and crocodiles in Australia although I doubt they’d be as nice as these cuties here.
  3. Soft pastel colors were the colors for Color Throwdown’s challenge #427. It was a challenge for me to do soft coloring using pastel colors – I’m usually all about the bold, bright hues.

My last card for today uses the stinkin cute yet’s from MFT’s Beast Friends. I colored the images with Copic markers then cut them out using the coordinating dienamics. For the background I used an ink blending tool with dye ink (Blueberry, Tropical Teal, Spearmint) and added a few water droplets. The panel was cut using MFT’s Stitched Basic Edges Dienamics. I cut an additional edge in Tropical Teal cardstock to add a thin border. The sentiment is from MFT’s Cozy Greetings stamp set and was embossed with ZING! embossing powder (Charcoal opaque).

Yeti Friends

I was able to combine three more challenges for this card:

  1. SCS Friday Free For All challenge called for cuddly/snuggly things. Now normally I’d think a Yeti or Abominable Snowman might be mean or try to bite – am I right? Definitely not so snuggly. BUT these little guys, on the other hand, are totally cuddly and snuggly. They sure look cozy with a scarf and hot cocoa.
  2. The second challenge I incorporated was SCS Mix-Ability challenge which was Brr Make it Frosty. Yeti’s are typically found in the snowy regions, aren’t they? And, they must be chilly; afterall, he’s wearing a scarf.
  3. Lastly, I used the color combination from MFT’s Color Challenge which is Gravel Gray, Blueberry, Spearmint, and Tropical Teal.

Thanks for looking!

Have a Spooktacular Halloween

Monster Bash

BOO! I couldn’t resist these little creepies (aka Monster Mash) from Lawn Fawn. Aren’t they fun?! I paired them with MFT’s Grave Situation stamps and dienamics to create this spooky scene. I created the background Halloween sky by using blending tools and Distress Inks in Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade, and Wilted Violet. I then splattered a little water and white Gesso with a small paintbrush to get the splotchy look. The headstones and little monsters were colored with Copic markers then arranged to create a fun scene. I just love it!

This week, I’m participating in SCS’s Mix-Ability MIX196 challenge and Simon Says Stamp’s Wednesday Challenge which was highlighting Lawn Fawn products. Thanks for stopping by and have a Happy Halloween!

Happy Falliday’s

Falliday Fest began this week over on Splitcoast Stampers. It’s a new week-long community challenge fest which replaces our previous October fest, Hope You Can Cling To. So far, it’s off to a good start…lots of fun challenges, tutorials and even a few surprises. Falliday Fest runs from October 9 through October 22 but you’ll have until October 31 to get all your challenges completed and posted. There’s going to be some great prizes too. Exciting!

FF16bejoyce

One of today’s challenges was to make a Joy Fold Card.  It’s a unique card that’s fairly easy to make and adds a lot of interest. It’s fun to decorate too because there are so many extra flaps which create little spaces for “hidden messages”.

For my card, I used a mixture of pattern papers and stamps by My Favorite Things and Stampers Anonymous. Check out my gallery for a listing of supplies used. And, you can find an easy to follow tutorial (along with many other great tutorials) on Splitcoast Stampers here. It’s not late to join in the fun. Hop on over and check out Falliday Fest.
